The Latest News from Visit Dartmouth

Issue: SPRING-2022

Welcome

A very warm welcome from Visit Dartmouth and our Visitor Centre Team. We are the Official Marketing Organisation for Dartmouth.

Now that the hospitality sector has returned to normal, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors for a great year ahead. Last year we saw record numbers of families eager to get away and enjoy the summer sun, but let’s not forget, Dartmouth really is a destination for all seasons.

Visitor Centre News

Visit Dartmouth also welcomes our latest member to the team, our new Visitor Centre Manager, Theresa Gunn. Since joining us in November, she has been welcoming visitors and assisting with their enquiries, and brings with her a wealth of experience in travel, marketing and business management..

What’s New for 2022

As another busy season approaches, our Support Team has been busy developing some new and innovative services to help our visitors plan and get the most from their holiday and stay in Dartmouth. These include a single search tool for Accommodation known as ‘Find & Stay’, and our new ‘Explore Guide’ which provides easy to use information for all Restaurants and Eateries, and our local Attractions in a compact Smartphone format, to give visitors a wide choice of information whilst out and about.

Find & Stay Search Service

Our Find & Stay search Service is a unique feature and exclusive to the Visit Dartmouth website, which assists visitors when planning their stay in this beautiful part of the South West.

Designed to take away the hassle of spending time searching individual accommodation providers, Find & Stay is a simple and easy search tool that connects visitors to all of our registered accommodation members.

All visitors need to do is to select their desired accommodation type, then complete a short form with all their stay requirements, and we do the rest. Accommodation providers with suitable matches to your requirements will then contact you directly.

If you are planning your holiday to Dartmouth this year and haven’t yet found your perfect holiday accommodation, why not use our Find & Stay Search Tool now.

Late Availability

Another very useful service provided by the Visitor Centre is our last-minute Late Availability notifications, displaying accommodation both on our website and in the Visitor Centre window 24/7.

New Digital Explore Guide

Your Smarter Digital Way to Explore Dartmouth

To assist visitors to get the very best experience during their stay, we are excited to introduce our new Visit Dartmouth Explore Guide, a product that provides visitors with a comprehensive guide of inspiration on where to eat and drink, and what to do in our beautiful town.

This virtual app is accessed from our Explore Cards which have been distributed across Dartmouth to help make information available everywhere on the move. With a simple scan of a QR Code, visitors can explore all the fantastic Cafes, Bars, Bistros, Restaurants, and Takeaways available across town, with directions and contact details of the business to fulfil all visitor requirements.

Exploring Things to Do has also been made easier with a comprehensive list of all the fabulous local attractions filled with fascinating history, things to tingle your taste buds, pet-friendly days out, and exciting fun for all the family.

During your stay in Dartmouth, our Explore Cards are also available to collect from the Visitor Centre and many other outlets throughout the town. The Visitor Centre staff are always on hand to assist you with any questions or help you may need.

Upcoming Festivals & Events

Dartmouth is home to many popular and iconic festivals and events in the South West, with the highlights being the Dartmouth Music Festival, Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta and the delicious Food Festival in October, as well as many other fantastic local events in support of charities, local produce providers and our wonderful Dartmouth Community.

After the postponement of the Dart Music Festival last year, we look forward to the town being filled with stunning live music and seeing our visitors and residents enjoying over 100 performers in more than 20 venues over 3 fabulous days in May – please check all the latest information on the Dart Music Festival Website.

Looking ahead, we look forward to many great local events including the Dartmouth Farmers’ Markets recognised by The Times as being one of the best Artisan Markets in the country, another spectacular Royal Regatta marking the 177th Anniversary in August, and another tasty Food Festival in October – lastly hoping to enjoy the festive Candlelit Dartmouth towards the end of the year.

If you didn’t see our coverage of Dartmouth Regatta 176, featuring the fabulous firework display filmed from the air, you can now do so below.

In addition to our coverage of events in 2021, we have also been meeting our visitors and businesses with our friend Monty the Bear, who last year was a guest at the Children’s Hospice Arts & Crafts Weekend and Dartmouth Regatta.

This year, he can’t wait to be back out and about along with his good friend Claude the Crab and the rest of the team to meet more visitors and businesses, getting his picture taken with them behind our very own #lovedartmouth selfie frame.

Monty feeling overwhelmed to meet some officers from Britannia Royal Naval College at the Children’s Hospice Event.
