Dart Music Festival – Celebration of 25 Years

This year’s event was highly successful and marked the amazing 25th anniversary of this fabulous festival. The weather was kind and the town came alive for this weekend of music of many genres. In celebration, we look back at just some of the many fabulous weekends from over the years.

Our friend Monty the Bear didn’t want to miss out, and spent a day out and about meeting more local Dartmouth Businesses, and many new faces of visitors exploring the town.

DARTMOUTH’S

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Dartmouth represents an important part to the Royal Family, as it was here at the Royal Navy’s Britannia Royal Naval College, where a young Princess Elizabeth, first met her future husband the Duke of Edinburgh in 1939.

To mark the Queens Platinum Jubilee Year celebrations, Dartmouth was filled with local events and street parties.

Pimm’s on the Plaza of the Visitor Centre added to the celebrations and the Centre Manager Theresa Gunn said: “The weather could have co-operated a bit more but, overall, people were really enjoying themselves. Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years on the throne is an amazing reign and we at the visitor centre were proud to celebrate it. The events kicked off in Royal Avenue Gardens with the Jubilee opening ceremony, music over the next few days and many people picnicking. It was wonderful to see the depth of everyone’s appreciation for our  monarch…it wasn’t just about having a party.”

The amazing RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight graced us with a flypast by the Avro Lancaster.

Totnes

Wild Dart Swim & Aquathlon

Sunday 26th June

About This Event

Last year, we changed the format, so that swimmers could swim with the tide for the 5k, the whole way, getting out at Ashprington Point Field. As with previous years, you can enter the 2.5k or 5k swim, as well as a 7k, 10k and 15k aquathlon.

The 5k swim covers a #GoWithTheFlow, one way only swim from Totnes to Ashprington Point Field, starting near the Dart-Totnes Rowing Club on Steamer Quay.

The 2.5k swimmers start at the same place in separate waves (according to your predicted finishing time) but exit at Sharpham. Aquathloners will also exit at Sharpham, then move to a nearby transition area, before running the three miles back to the rowing club, following the cycle path above the Dart…
