The Home of Sharpham Wines
Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham Wine have been producing award-winning wines with grapes lovingly grown on the banks of the river Dart for over 40 years. Their wines have won both national and international awards and have been listed in some of the country’s best restaurants.
After 40 years at the original Sharpham site, they have recently moved closer to their main vineyard at Sandridge Barton, Stoke Gabriel. Here they have 32 acres under vine, and are planning on planting a further 8 acres in May 2023. They produce a range of still and sparkling wines from grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Pinto Gris, Madeleine Angevine, Bacchus and Chardonnay, all of which showcase the unique South Devon climate in every sip.
In the winery, Sandridge Barton apply both modern and traditional techniques when making their wines, using an array of temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and old French oak barrels of different sizes. Annual production can vary due to the success of the harvest which is of course determined by the Devon summertime, but usually an average of around 80k bottles are produced.

Completed in 2022 was their brand-new visitor centre which is housed in a number old barns that was once a working dairy farm. Care has been taken to retain the rural feel of the buildings to honour the history of the estate.

When visiting, you can book onto a Guided Tasting led by one of their expert team, or enjoy a more casual self-guided option where you select your own wines and taste at your leisure with accompanying bar snacks, children can enjoy the woodland nature trail to the newly planted ‘Stony Field’ vineyard to see the vines and even hunt for fossils.

Onsite is their incredible restaurant Circa, who offer a varied menu championing local and seasonal ingredients with many ingredients coming from the estate. There is also onsite shop stocks their full range of wines, as well as other local Devon produce from local food and drink producers and other artisans.
