Bespoke Tours available from south devon tours

If you’re looking for something different to do whilst you’re in Dartmouth, why not consider one of the interesting and entertaining Tours available from South Devon Tours.

History & Heritage

Dartmouth is steeped in history and was first referenced in the Doomsday Book of 1086. The town grew as a port with its deep water harbour and was favoured with strategic importance throughout the ages, where many ships assembled for the Crusades and later as an important assembly point for the D-Day preparations of 1944.

The town has three historic churches, each of which has its own amazing history.

There are guided and self-guided Tours available to learn about Dartmouth’s amazing history. Special WWII Tours are also available about the D-Day preparations, including the evacuation of large areas around Slapton and the Exercise Tiger tragedy, where 639 American Soldiers and Sailors died as a result of a surprise attack by German E-Boats during a landing convoy rehearsal on the night of 28th April 1944.

Helicopter Tours

The South Devon Tours Flagship Experience comes from above, with an aerial tour in your own private helicopter charter. Up to four people can share this hour long flight, which covers flying over the South Devon Coastline from Teign Estuary, then travelling west passing, Torquay, Brixham, Bury Head, Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands, Torcross, Start Point Lighthouse, Salcombe, Bantham, Burgh Island and Bigbury-on-sea, before routing North over Dartmoor.
