Travelling by Car:

Travelling from the North or the East, you’ll begin entering the region of South Devon at the bottom of the M5, Exeter. Keep travelling south onto the A38. After about 3 miles keep to the right and stay on the A38 heading towards Plymouth. After 18 miles leave the A38 onto the A384 signposted to Totnes. You will pass through the village of Dartington where you take the first option at the second mini roundabout. As you enter Totnes turn right at the traffic lights onto the A381 and follow the signs for Dartmouth. When you reach the village of Halwell, (about 7 miles) you turn left onto the A3122 and Dartmouth is about 7 miles.

Travelling by Coach:

Coaches arriving at Dartmouth will use either the Park & Ride drop off point, where a smaller bus will transfer passengers into town arriving at the main coach and bus service point, or the direct drop off point at Dartmouth Embankment.

Travelling by Train:

The nearest mainline railway station is Totnes, which is the arrival point for trains from London and the Midlands. From here a bus service runs between Totnes and Dartmouth and is operated by the Stagecoach Company. Taxi services are also available from the rail station.
Alternatively you can arrive by train to Paignton and get the steam train or bus 120 to Kingswear and then get onto the passenger ferry.

Travelling by Air:

Exeter Airport has excellent rail links to Totnes and is approximately 50 mins by car from the Exeter Airport to Dartmouth.

Travelling by Sea:

Dartmouth welcomes visiting pleasure craft and ships into the Harbour. To book a mooring please call the Dart Harbour Office on 01803 832337 or VHF Channel 11. Mariners are advised to keep up to date with the latest COVID-19 Safety Guidance.

Dartmouth has two car & passenger ferries, the Higher Ferry situated on the north east point of Coronation Park next to the Dart Marina Hotel and Spa. The Lower Ferry connects Dartmouth with Kingswear using the historic ferry and tug, one of which is aptly named Hauley (Hawley) after a previous Dartmouth mayor who between 1374 and 1401 held the office on fourteen occasions.

A foot passenger ferry is also available connecting Dartmouth to Kingswear which operates all year.
A Stagecoach bus service connects Dartmouth to Totnes (92 Service) and Plymouth via Kingsbridge (3 Service).

Parking in Dartmouth has seasonal changes, in summer with free short stays available in the town centre for between 1-2 hours and all-day parking at a cost in the main Mayors Avenue car park. Park and Ride facilities are in operation throughout the summer season and for special events.
